Concrete in Inman

Concrete work in Inman, on the larger lots northeast of Greer

Inman is northeast of Greer toward Lake Bowen, a Spartanburg County town where the lots get bigger, the outbuildings get more common and the subdivisions are still arriving. Shop and barn slabs, long driveways and the first patio behind a new house are the calls we take there.

Formed garage slab with a compacted crushed-stone base, vapor barrier and tied rebar grid ready for the concrete pour on a residential lot in South Carolina

Inman sits on US 176 and Highway 292 in northern Spartanburg County, between Greer and Lake Bowen, a former mill town with a quiet Main Street and a growing ring of subdivisions and larger rural lots around it. It is far enough from the I-85 corridor to have kept its acreage, which changes the concrete work: more detached garages, workshops, pole barns and metal buildings that need a slab and footings, longer driveways from the road to the house, and parking pads for the trailer, the boat for the lake or the camper.

Outbuilding slabs are where Inman differs most from the corridor towns. A shop floor that will hold a lift or a tractor is poured five or six inches thick with tied rebar on a compacted stone base, with a vapor barrier under any enclosed floor and anchor bolts set to the building's drawings. Larger buildings need a Spartanburg County permit and a footing inspection before the pour, and we schedule it into the job. Long rural driveways are their own kind of project: more square feet, drainage planned along the whole run, and a decision about which sections are concrete and which stay gravel.

Inman's subdivisions bring the usual new-lot work, flatwork on compacted fill, first patios and replacement of builder driveways, and the older streets near the center bring settled walks and flaked slabs. The estimator checks truck access on rural lots carefully, since a long dirt drive after a week of rain can stop a loaded mixer.

Concrete services for Inman homeowners

Asked by Inman homeowners

How thick should my shop slab be?

Five or six inches with tied rebar for a lift, a tractor or heavy equipment; four inches is fine for storage and cars. The building's plans or the equipment decide it.

Do I need a permit for a barn slab in Inman?

Small sheds often do not; larger outbuildings and detached garages do, with a Spartanburg County footing inspection before the pour. We check for your address.

Can you do only part of a long driveway in concrete?

Yes. Many rural owners pour the section at the house and the turnaround and leave the run to the road in gravel. We price both ways.

Will a mixer truck make it down my dirt drive?

The estimator checks. After heavy rain a loaded truck can bog on clay, and the pour is scheduled for dry ground or pumped from where the truck can stand.

Do you pour pads for campers and boats?

Yes, thickened and reinforced for the tongue weight and the trailer axles, with a slope so water runs off.

How often are you in Inman?

Regularly; it is on the same loop as Lyman, Duncan and Boiling Springs.
