Plain answers for Greer homeowners

Licensing, estimates, prices, clay, permits, seasons, sunken slabs, sealing and what we do not do. If your question is not here, call and ask it.

Are you licensed and insured?

Insured, yes: the crews carry general liability and workers' compensation, and the certificate is available before the first truck arrives. Licensed is a different question in South Carolina, which has no stand-alone concrete contractor licence. Residential flatwork needs none. Larger structural and commercial projects require the state's residential specialty registration or a contractor licence, and those jobs are done under one as the law requires.

Is the estimate free?

Yes. The estimator comes to the property, measures, checks the ground and the drainage and writes an itemized price. There is no charge and no obligation.

What does a concrete driveway cost in Greer?

About $6 to $16 per square foot for a standard broom finish in 2026, so roughly $4,800 to $12,800 for an 800-square-foot two-car driveway, before removal of the old slab. Stamped and colored finishes run $12 to $25 per square foot. The base depth and the lot's access move the number most.

Why is red clay such a problem for concrete?

Piedmont clay swells when wet, shrinks when dry and drains poorly, so the ground under a slab moves every year. Concrete poured on it without a compacted stone base moves with it and cracks. The stone base and proper grading are the fix, and they are the first things to ask about on any estimate.

Do I need a permit?

For a driveway, patio, walk or small slab in Greer, Greenville County or Spartanburg County, generally no. Foundations and footings for a building, and retaining walls above a certain height, can need a permit and an inspection, and we tell you which office is involved before the job is priced.

How long before I can use new concrete?

Walk on it after a day, park a car after about a week, keep heavy trucks off for a month, and seal it after about a month. Concrete keeps gaining strength for weeks; the estimate gives dates for your mix and the season.

Can you pour in the summer heat?

Yes, with a dawn start, a dampened base, a mix adjusted for the day and proper curing, so the surface does not dry out ahead of the slab and craze. Afternoon pours in a Greer July are how driveways get plastic shrinkage cracks.

What about winter?

Pours wait for a window with a few frost-free days ahead. The Upstate has 40 to 60 freeze-thaw days a year, so timing and an air-entrained mix matter more here than near the coast.

My driveway sank at the garage. Does it have to be replaced?

If the slab is intact, no. Foam or slurry leveling lifts it back to the garage floor in a morning for a fraction of a replacement. If it has cracked into pieces or the base has washed out badly, replacement on a proper base is the honest answer.

Should I seal my concrete?

Yes, about a month after a new pour and every two to three years after that. A penetrating sealer keeps water out of the pores, and water in the pores is what the winter's freezes work on.

Can you match stamped concrete to my patio?

New stamped concrete can match the pattern and come close on color; an exact match to a weathered slab is not realistic and we say so. A border or a saw-cut seam between old and new looks better than a fade line.

Do you do foundation repair?

No. We pour new slab foundations, footings and pads for garages, outbuildings and additions, and we level settled slabs and walks. Repairing, lifting or underpinning an existing house foundation is a separate engineered trade, and we will tell you if that is what you are looking at.

Do you work on weekends?

Crews work seven days a week when the weather allows, and the phone is answered at any hour. Weather decides the schedule more than the calendar does.

Which towns do you cover?

All of Greer, plus Taylors, Duncan, Lyman, Simpsonville, Mauldin, Travelers Rest, Inman and Boiling Springs, with Wellford, Powdersville and the edges of Greenville and Spartanburg when the schedule allows.

Ready to pour, patch or lift something?

An estimator comes out, checks the ground, measures and writes the price. Free across Greer and the Greenville–Spartanburg corridor, and the phone is answered at any hour.
