Leveling and repair cost

Concrete leveling and repair cost in Greer: foam, slurry, crack filling and resurfacing in 2026

A sunken walk lifted with foam, a flaked patio resurfaced or a cracked driveway filled and sealed costs a fraction of tearing the slab out, and in Greer those three jobs are most of what keeps older concrete going. Here are the 2026 ranges and the rule for when a fix beats a replacement.

Technician injecting polyurethane foam through small holes to lift a sunken concrete walkway slab back level with its neighbor

Concrete in the Upstate fails in two different places: the surface, from freeze-thaw scaling and hot-weather crazing, and the base, from red clay that moves and fill that settles. Surface problems and simple settlement are fixable, and the fixes are not expensive. Base failure, where the slab has cracked into pieces or the ground is still moving, is not, and the honest answer there is replacement. The prices below are for the fixable kind.

Leveling prices

Method2026 rangeNotes
Polyurethane foam leveling$5 – $15 / sq ftSmall holes, cures in minutes, waterproof, light
Mudjacking (cement slurry)$3 – $8 / sq ftLarger holes, heavier, cheaper on big plain slabs
Two-slab front walk, foamPriced on inspectionTypically a morning and a few hundred dollars

Joint sealing after a liftPriced on inspectionKeeps water out of the base

Foam costs more per square foot and is the better choice for most residential slabs: it lifts precisely, adds almost no weight to a weak base, does not wash out and takes a car within hours. Slurry is sound and cheaper for large flat slabs where the bigger holes do not matter. Either way, the square footage that counts is the slab being lifted, not the whole driveway, so a dropped garage apron is a much smaller bill than its per-square-foot rate suggests.

Repair prices

The rule for lift, repair or replace

Lift when the slab is intact, or in a few large pieces, and has simply dropped: a lip at the garage, a tilted walk, a patio that now holds water. Repair when the slab is level and the damage is in the surface: flaking, scaling, stable cracks, spalled edges. Replace when the slab has broken into many pieces, when cracks are widening or offset so one side is higher than the other, or when the base has washed out or is still settling. A lift or a repair on a slab in the third category fails within a season, and we would rather tell you that on the first visit than sell it. The repair-or-replace guide goes through the signs one by one.

Why these repairs are worth doing

An 800-square-foot driveway replaced on a proper base is $4,800 to $12,800 plus removal. Lifting its dropped apron, filling two stable cracks and sealing the whole slab is a small fraction of that and keeps it in service for years. The money saved is real as long as the slab qualifies, which is the only thing the estimator is there to find out.

Questions this guide gets asked

Is foam leveling permanent?

As permanent as the base. If the void came from a one-time wash-out that is fixed, yes. If the slab sits on fill that is still settling, it can drop again, and we say so before you spend.

How much does it cost to lift a sunken front walk?

Foam leveling runs $5 to $15 per square foot of the slab being lifted; a two-slab front walk is typically a morning's work and a few hundred dollars, priced on inspection.

Can a cracked slab be lifted?

In two or three large pieces, yes, each piece to grade. In many small pieces, no; it will not lift evenly and should be replaced.

How long does a resurfaced driveway last?

Many years on a sound, level slab that is sealed afterward. Overlays on moving slabs crack where the slab cracks, so we do not put them there.

Do you charge to come out and look?

No. The visit and the written price are free, and the estimator tells you plainly whether a lift, a repair or a replacement is the right call.

Can you lift my garage floor or my foundation?

The slab inside the garage, yes. Foundation walls, footings and anything the house bears on, no; that is foundation repair, a separate engineered trade.
